    4 days post op

Hi everyone. I'm doing this on my phone so I have to me it quick. I had the anterior disk removal 10 ago, and the posterior fusion. 2-3 days after the anterior surg (went in through the front left),
I was standing for an X-ray and ever since then, my left lower chest and belly is so incredibly sore and swelled in there. Numb to the touch. Doc said surgery went fine. I cannot get up without total care support by noon everyday (it's less sore in the morning when I wake up.
Ive tried a wide range of meds, still really swollen and inflamed in there. Any advice? Nothing shows up on X-rays. Thanks, sry for the
Bad grammar due to laying here in the hosp bed in much pain and soreness

    Hi Ryy!

Pain 10 days out is to be expected and can be overwhelming. You've had the x-rays and things look fine so try not to worry too much. Pain appears in different places for a few weeks, it comes and goes, and every time it appears, it's a huge concern.

The swelling is also normal. So too, is the numbness. As the pain subsides, you will do better with the walking and the more walking you do, the better everything will be. Concentrate on taking those few steps and increasing every day. It's the best thing you can do for yourself at present. I was in hospital 19 days, not like some members here who were out in as little as 6 days. It was uncontrolled pain that kept me there, but I've done really well, so try not to worry.

    Best of luck!

Hang in there, just take it day by day and things will get better. My swelling took about 2 months to go down, its not a fast process.

Things improve everyday. It might seem overwhelming right now, but this will pass in time.

    Hi Rhy,

My abdomen was very swollen as well. It hurt so bad. I finally asked my Dr. if I could stop getting that IV fluid. Once he said yes, the swelling went down enough that my pain was eased.

    Take Care,
    Shari
