  • Bread and grains = Magnesium, calcium, zink and iron deficiency

    Hey everyone.
The last month I have been doing lot's of reading on Food preparation, and found much research and many articles showing the negative effects of grains and bread as we eat it in our modern culture. I have been reading about the link between osteoporosis (mineral deficiency in bones) and scoliosis, and this makes sense, because many people subsist on grains and bread today. Grains contain phytic acid which blocks for the absorption of Calcium, Magnesium , Zink and iron, and therefore must be soaked or fermented (such as making traditional sourdough bread ) before eaten.

I thought there might be some people if not many who could benefit strongly from this, and I encourage everyone to do further research to make your own conclusion.

    Kind regards,
    Christian

Very interesting. Would that mean that more of an "Atkins" type diet would be best? Low carb diet?

I think it depends on each individual's body type and metabolism (according to metabolic typing). I know for sure that the amount of grains and cereals that we consume today is too much.

I believe it's quite simple: Meat (from grass fed animals) and raw vegetables contain most of the minerals and vitamins we need, combined with sunlight and you are good to go. When we cook vegetables all the minerals run out into the water and the enzymes are killed, so that's why raw vegetables are vital for human well being and health.
Without the minerals calcium the bones become soft and this will for sure aggravate scoliosis, and calcium needs Vitamin D and magnesium to be properly absorbed in the small intestines. So sitting inside all day is not (according to what i believe) what mother nature intended for us.

I am very interested in the effect of vitamins and minerals because I think this can help people with scoliosis and osteoporosis, and will post more when I know more.

I've had scoliosis nearly all my life, but don't have osteoporosis. Now that I'm post-menopause, I take calcium and Vitamin D daily. I try to eat mostly whole grains, fruits and veggies, less meat. Regular exercise especially weight-bearing is important, but I also bike and swim. Seems to be working.
