Please help I'm new to this site and finding a physician that I am comfortably with has been a challenge. I have seen Dr Serena Hu at the UCSF and she would of been my choice. Although I'm a workmans comp case here in southern California and my employer will not allow her to do the surgery primarily due to cost? I have not seen a surgeon in Southern California as of yet many several scheduled but still so confused. Dr Jack Chen in Orange,Ram Mudiyam in Fountain Valley,Dr Lanman in LosAngeles. If anyone out there has a suggestion or comment do not hesitate. I'm a 47 year old female with a curve 55 degree. I"m aware that I will need a fusion and hardware for the scoliosis

Have you tried searching for scoliosis specialists near you using the SRS website? http://www.srs.org/find/
Also, you could try using sites like vitals.com and ratemds.com to find feedback on various physicians.
Sorry if you've already tried those and still can't find a scoliosis doctor you like. I live on the East Coast and can't help much in terms of specific doctor recommendations for your area. Good luck though!

Thank you, I have viewed the site and there are so many to choose from. I was hoping to hear a few good recomendations regarding a Southern California surgeon. In a few weeks I will be able to at least comment on the particular surgeons I will be interviewing

several people on forum have mentioned Dr Pashman...he is at Cedars Sinai in LA, where Dr Anand is...same floor...
i saw Dr Anand last January 2010...flew from east coast to see him, because he does "minimally invasive surgery" for this (lumbar fusion)...i met with him, but paid cash as he doesnt take my insurance..
other doctors have started using that approach, including the surgeon in Manhattan, who has followed my curve progression for years now....if i decide to do the surgery, the only way i would consider it is with minimally invasive...i need T11-pelvis!

hey gina
according to Dr Anand, all fusions (including...now...lumbar fusions)can now be done minimally invasive approach...and other surgeons are coming along to that brand of thinking...
my surgeon in NYC is Dr Lonner...i like him the most... i saw 3 other surgeons in Manhattan, but if i do this, Dr Lonner is my guy...he's the best in my book...
i've never heard of scoli being a workmen's comp case!!
