  • Indianapolis doctors, anyone?

Also, sorry for another post but lots of questions here...

Anyone know anything about Indianapolis doctors? Who is the best? I've consulted John Dietz, Terry Trammell and Rick Sasso.

Also, is it worth driving a few hours to St. Louis or Chicago?

    Thank you!

      I live near Indy...

I have seen both Deitz and Trammel. I wanted to see Sasso, but he does not take my insurance. In Dec. 2008, I drove to St. Louis to see Keith Bridwell. He is excellent. He gave me the most thorough exam I have ever had. I am holding off on surgery right now. Not sure if it will help. I currently see Dr. Coscia at OrthoIndy. I like him. He is very thorough. If I do decide to have surgery, I will be very tempted to go to St. Louis and have Bridwell do it.

FYI, I was fused T3-L2 for Scheuermann's kyphosis in 1989. My curve has progressed up my spine into my upper back/cervical area. Don't know what kind of problem you are looking to help, but wanted you to know where I am with all this.

Sorry, I looked quickly at your signature before and saw "age 11" and your screen name of "confused mom" and assumed you were seeking a pediatric orthopedic surgeon.

I'll leave the info there though in case it can help someone else

        Best of luck to you!

You may want to contact naptown78 who appears to have had a successful revision surgery from her original surgery two years ago. She’s from Indianapolis and maybe she’ll share surgeon information with you.

I’ve always believed that the best doctors are recruited by the top teaching hospitals, and these institutions are generally located in large metropolitan areas. Chicago has excellent surgeons at University of Chicago, Northwestern and Rush University. I did seek an opinion from Dr. Bridwell but chose my surgeon from Chicago who was trained by Dr. Bridwell. And yes I think it is worth driving a few hours to St. Louis or Chicago.

            Thanks!

            Thanks all,

I am trying on all of your advice to get an appt with Lenke/Bridwell in St. Louis and/or Gupta in Chicago. I may try Dr. Coscia in Indy, as well.

            I appreciate the input!
