I'm guessing that your brace is not fitted properly.
I didn't wear a brace after my last surgeries. After my first surgeries, I wore the brace underneath baggy tops because I didn't want people staring.
I wasn't trying to infer that you are stupid. I assumed that everyone knew how to wash their hair in the shower, but I learn something new most days, so this is what I would do:

That's because the proper medical diagnosis is actually radiculopathy for both conditions.

You should check with your surgeon's office. Most restrictions for adults are usually dropped somewhere in the first 6-12 months.

Are you in Canada? If so, what territory?

Hi...
As far as I know, there are no deformity surgeons who participate in this forum, so it's unlikely that you'll get any answers that help you decide what's best in your son's situation. ...
You're the only one who knows how much pain you have and who can therefore make the decision to have surgery. I always tell people to think of whether they can live with their current...
I've also known many teens who had excellent in brace correction, and who after maturity, had their curves return.
I think that's totally untrue with adults (and probably with most teens). Ask anyone who has had a broken rod prior to full fusion. Their curves usually return, especially if the implants are...
Not that I've read.
As concerneddad says, discectomies do not require fusion. However, it makes no sense to me, to do a discectomy without fusion and implants in a mature adult. Movement (which is a given in...
Hi Billy...
As far as I know, there has never been such a study. It's really difficult to do long-term studies, especially when they involve closely tracking things like exercise programs.

You should ask your surgeon. If you're at least 6 months postop and your fusion is solid, it's unlikely that sit-ups will cause any implant issues. But, it seems to me that you might cause soft...

What makes you think we lost Dustin?

Yup, don’t do that (sit-ups).
Slip in shoes would be a disaster for me. I can’t keep my feet in them, in the best of times.
Thanks Dr. Sharon! Your contributions have been incredibly important in terms of keeping me sane.
Thanks Dr. Ed!

Ed.... If an orthopaedist practices in the sticks, one hopes that they'd be intelligent enough, if they noticed anything suspicious, to refer the child to a medical university practice. At UCSF,...
Just an FYI... this varies by surgeon. For my second set of surgeries, I was allowed to shower as soon as I went home. For my surgeon, it depends on the type of closure and how the wound looks.
I used a shower stool, with a handheld shower head, after both of my surgeries. If you put the stool in front of the controls, the handheld shower head can be held at the necessary height.
You'll...
Hi Tina...
I'm not sure, but I don't think that minimally invasive spine surgeries are less expensive than open spine surgeries. The minimally invasive implants are probably a bit more expensive...
Nancy... Don't be too freaked out by the MRI report. If you looked at a bunch of MRI reports for people in your age group, they actually would be relatively similar to your report. Degenerative...

I think most experienced deformity specialists send kids for thorough workups when there is something of suspicion (e.g., left thoracic curves, unusual height measurement, cafe au lait...
I predict that Dr. Boachie will not get involved in the debate. He's unlikely to say anything negative about chiropractors, as he is always very tactful. For the most part, that's true of most of...
