Hi Leah,
Evelyn here. This has been my problem since T4-S1 surgery in 2012. Dr. Lenke did a CT of that area and did not find evidence of nonfusion. He said I could have the pelvic screws removed...
Hi all,
Hope everyone is doing well. I got a letter this morning that Dr. Lenke's last day at Washington University will be 6/17/15. He will begin work in New York in August. Thought I would pass...
Pedicure - immediately! Just take a pillow with you.
Hair - immediately if you wash it in the shower and go with wet hair. It was at least six months and probably a year before I could comfortably...
Thanks, everyone! Good to hear from you all, too.
By "alarm," I mean they saw my metal and scanned me -- not literal loud sirens. :-) This typically happens when I have to go through the "door...
Regarding the spot on your back, could it be from where your back hits the chair? Prior to my surgery, my back was getting so deformed that certain spots would really grate against the backs of...
I didn't have the breathing & GI issues, but if you search the archives, there are people who did. I remember one thread where people talked about having fewer problems with acid reflux after...
I am fine with everything except the bras. Definitely no underwires, and I actually prefer sports bras if I can find them. The tightness across my back still bothers me 2-years post-op. Not painful,...
Susan, that's just frightening.
I bought everything before hand and it made me feel better going into surgery. I also used it all afterward for close to a year. Except I didn't need the bathroom...
P.S. Dr. Lenke advised me not to have the pelvic anchors removed. He said I COULD if I wanted, but there is a small risk of curve regression. He said unless they were causing constant pain I should...
Hi Everyone,
Sorry I did not check in after my 2-year followup. I think one sign of people getting better is that they are not on the forum as much anymore -- at least that's the case for me.
...
Um, I think the really pertinent question that should be added to the survey is "specifically how do you get the most out of sex after fusion to the pelvis? Please provide details about positions,...
Anyone? Anyone? Buhler??? :-)
Haha. I am here for my 2-year followup. Got X-rays and CT of lower lumbar today to see what's up with my pelvic screws, which still cause me pain when exercising....
I went bowling recently and just used the lightest-weight ball (8 lbs) and just kind of dropped it, rather than trying to bend to throw it. Surprisingly, I didn't get sore. Have fun!!

Hi all,
Sorry for the last-minute post, but will anyone be in St. Louis tomorrow or Wednesday? I am seeing Dr. Lenke for my 2-year followup. I'll be there Tuesday afternoon through Weds. morning....
Glad to hear it, Karen!!

I am coming up on 2 years postop and I still feel like I am wearing a metal corset all the time. The weird thing is, it doesn't really bother me much now that I am used to it. And in some ways, I...
Hi all,
I'm coming up on 2-years postop in March. I am doing well, generally.
However, I still have trouble tolerating the iliac screw on my left side, especially when I exercise.
What...
Wendy,
I slept more than usual at least the first year--maybe 18 months. I would get fatigued easily and need to lie down -- then I was out for a while. I think it's part of the extended healing...
Jess,
I'm sorry the pain is getting worse again. Is there anything you can do to modify your routine? When my back/leg pain was at its worst I used a shower chair and sat down to put on makeup,...
Annabeller,
I think it's possible for you to have a baby - eventually.
But the first step is to address your back pain. It sounds to me like you should visit another top-notch revision...
Party,
I'm sorry about your cousin and will hope for a miracle for your family.
Regarding your pain, remember that the surgeons always say there is no guarantee of reduced pain. But that...
Okay. Let us know how the re-test goes. Any theories for what the pain could be other than infection?
That's disappointing about the rotation. I will let you know what they say about mine after my...
Janet,
Have you heard anything further? You seemed to be doing so well there for a while. I hope this turns out to be a small bump in the road.
I was curious about your statement that the...
She is posting on Facebook, so seems to be doing really well!!
