  • Using brace for running, 5 years post-op?

Hi, do any of you still use your back brace for exercising? I am trying to lose weight and cannot run without the support of my back brace. I am overweight, so hoping the pain is just because of that. I had 360-degree scoli surgery in 2007 (reattachment of 1 Harrington rod that popped off, installment of osteotomy wedges, re-fusion, and some artificial discs just for grins). Before that I had 2 rods and 13 spinal fusions in 1995.

    Running after revision

I had a very extensive revision and I was instructed not to jog by my surgeon. It could unnecessarily stress the hardware. I do hike though and do strength training.
    Original scoliosis surgery 1956 T-4 to L-2 ~100 degree thoracic (triple)curves at age 14. NO hardware-lost correction.
Anterior/posterior revision T-4 to Sacrum in 2002, age 60, by Dr. Boachie-Adjei @Hospital for Special Surgery, NY = 50% correction
