Hi,
I didnt really know what to post this under.
There is a new Australian Scoliosis Forum.
It is just underway by the looks.
It is found at
http://www.scoliosis-australia.org/forum/index.php
I think it could be really good to all Aussie scoliosis sufferers and their families.
This forum has been a lifesaver for me, so i will never leave it.
But it would just be good to have more contact with other Aussies.
Plus be able to pass on experiences etc with our health system and whatnot.
Any, have a look and thanks goes to Vali and Jen for discovering it.
Regards
Donna.

Hi Donna,

I'm with you when you say 'I will never leave this forum'. I started reading this forum back in March 2009 (I think-may have been earlier), although I didn't join until May. This forum was heaven sent and prepared me so much for what lay ahead. I know I don't post much, however, it is the first thing I read in the morning and the last thing at night and sometimes I check in the middle of the day. My daughter just walked past and said "Mum are you on the forum again?". I swear its an addiction. Have a great day:)

Hi Vali,
I know what you mean about the addiction.
Our internet was down for a few days and i am sure I was suffering withdrawals.
It is wonderful and I cannot speak more highly of those that contribute.
I think we must have found this forum about the same time too.
Hope to see you again on the Aussie forum.
Regards
Donna

Absolutely. This forum has been a lifesaver for me. I was a quivering wreck when I first came here. I received all the information and advice I could possibly need and really appreciate the knowledge and experience that's freely offered.

I'll post about this on the UK forum too, in case any Aussies there don't check this board as well :) It's good to have easy contact with people who understand the healthcare system in your own part of the world.

Do you have any idea who the person is that calls themself Dr. Scoliosis? Is this an actual orthopedist? Or rotating orthopedists? Or some other type of health professional? Or other.

I can't figure out who or what organization is actually running this forum. Isn't anyone curious?

It says at the bottom of the forum that it is a project of the Spine Society of Australia.

Thanks tonibunny, I didn't see that. Guess I didn't scroll down far enough.

It's interesting that it's supported by Medtronic.

I wonder if this National Scoliosis Foundation forum is supported by companies such as Medtronic? And if so, what percentage?

I am a representative of the Spine Society of Australia and the following information is offered in response to comments in this thread regarding the new forum at Scoliosis Australia. (http://www.scoliosis-australia.org/forum/index.php)

The Scoliosis Australia website is a project of the Spine Society of Australia (http://www.spinesociety.org.au) which is an affiliate of the Australian Orthopaedic Association.

All the material on the Scoliosis Australia website has been prepared by medically qualified doctors who are members of the Society and who specialise in the management of spinal deformity (scoliosis and kyphosis) and allied spinal conditions.

Queries to the website are answered by 'Dr Scoliosis' whose identify is not revealed for privacy reasons. There is a roster of doctors who assume this name for the purpose of the exercise.

The design and maintenance of a busy website is a time-consuming exercise. Professional assistance is required for these activities which is made possible through an unrestricted educational grant from Medtronic Australasia. The Spine Society of Australia is a not-for-profit organisation.
