exercises are proven to be a way to help with bracing and correcting the spine, it is helpful, and reading more and more on Schroth method and SEAS exercises...clinical studies prove that combined with exercise therapy has improved outcome.

read the study:

Schroth has reccommended sleeping positions: Major curve or rib hump should be towards the ceiling use gravity to help with corrections.

Bracing works by excerting pressure on areas of curvature to realign the body.

Exercises to help with posture and realignment and breathing exercises help move the body into a better alignment.

So don't knock out exercises.
You want to strengthen the weaker muscles by the concave side of curve while stretching and lengthening muscles on the convex side or hump side of the curve. Avoid repeated exercises that can exasperate the curve like old kind of sit ups, or bending over towards your curve....This is where a PT or specialist would come in handy ...everyone is unique and every situation is unique.
