hello, everyone! i just got home from the hospital a few hours ago. my surgery lasted 10 hours and the surgeon said they accomplished everyhingthey wanted to. there were some problems w/blood pressure and fluid loss and so on...i was in intensive care for 5 days and then i went to rehab. the rehab part was a surprise for me, but it was well worth the time and trouble; i was there for 8 days. the nerve pain i was suffering in my leg prior to surgery seems to have disappeared and i feel more balanced; the burning pain i had in my neck is gone, too! i'm getting good with my grab stiick, brace, and walker; i can climb the stairs and walk through a wal-mart for a half hour or so...what else ould one want from life? how are you all doing?

        yay!

Oh yay, it's so good to hear you're through the other end and up and about. Congratulations!!! So great that your leg pain is gone. Wow That's pretty amazing. Look after yourself, and keep us updated on what's going on! What did they have you do in rehab? (no rush to reply, only when you're ready)

        Lots of lucky wishes, Laura

hi laura! the pt i received was very basic; it was focused on stretching calves and hamstrings; strengthening arm muscles, and getting some flexibility in the hip joints. the occupational therapy was all about using the walker safely, climbing stairs, using household appliances with a walker and a grab stick in the way....all of it was very helpful. that is the extent of therapy i will get until 3+ months...my surgeon wants me to keep up with the stretching and walking. can do!
