I was wondering if anyone on here go to a massage therapist? i would like very much to go maybe once a month or something to help but im so self conscious of how my back looks to them i would prolly gross them out. So i havent gone yet. Maybe if anyone knows of someone that deals with scoliosis patients alot but doesnt charge an arm and leg.

My son (who has both kyphosis and scoliosis) went to someone who had therapeutic massage training, and she was wonderful. To her, it was a great interesting puzzle to figure out how to get his head/shoulderblade back in alignment. She did a few sessions of massage, and then gave him stretches and recommended a good physical therapist who worked on his posture.
Looking through her training, in addition to the regular massage training she has 42 hours in "Integrated Neuromuscular Therapy," and I think that's the part that made her good at therapeutic massage.

i used to go to a massage therapist once every 3 weeks (now i go once a month), and i highly recommend it. just find someone with some experience. i would try to go to more of a rehab environment...for example, the massage therapist i go to is in the same building as a PT and chiropractor, so they all work together. i'm sure there are great massage therapists at spas too, but just check around. massages definitely help to keep everything moving and loosened up. plus, it's a nice, relaxing time to just have to yourself.

also, i doubt they would be "grossed out." they'd probably just be really interested in helping you feel better. oh, and i pay $75 for an hour massage, so it's not too bad. it's easy to budget for that...especially for only once a month.

I'm sure most massage therapists have seen things far more gross than a rib hump!

I am sure a massage therapist would prefer a bump on someones back than a yucky hairy planet of the apes back that my massage therapist has told me about xD
sillycoffeegirl go and get the massages, they work.

i have gone for massages for years...they usually just ask me if there is anything they need to avoid doing & anything in particular i want done...some seem to just consider it an interesting challenge.....
i wouldnt be worried...
