  • Lots of good news :)

    Hi all,

Was quite excited today as I went out and was able to wear a relatively fitted coat with one of those waist belts! First time ever as now I actually have a defined waist and even hips. Seems minor but really made me happy. Can't wait till summer for more "firsts".

I've also (obviously) been out of my brace for about three weeks, recently removed my raised toilet seat, no longer seem to need my sock aid and can tie my own shoes (by resting my ankle on my knee). I also feel quite good barring the occasional nerve pains.

I also return to studying in one week. Don't regret the surgery at all

Hope you're all doing well too.
Diagnosed at the age of 18 (2004)
    46° curve
    Surgery scheduled for April 27, 2009 - Anterior fusion from T12 - L3

Good for you Cimbom, it is a nice plus to this tough surgery to be able to fit into the styles we couldn't wear before because our bodies were shifting this and that way, we deserve it for all we went through! It's wonderful that you are feeling pretty well also.

I was fused in almost the same area as you. I remember it was nice to get more length between my ribs and hip bones! Good luck with your studying.

little milestones that aren't so little!

                Cimbom,

Those things that you seem minor or little are huge things to us scoli patients! I have even hips and my rib cage has finally evened out so, like you, I am so excited to have my cloths fit me properly:O) I wish I had my surgery sooner and hadn't waited 5 years! Congrats and good luck with continuing recovery!
