Hello!
Someone recently told me about this craneal release therapy and that it helps decrease the degree of curvature. Has anyone heard of this or knows of anyone who has used this sort of therapy to help with scoliosis? My daughter has a 56 degree curve at 8years of age and we are obviously facing surgery in the near future and I am interested in anything that could possibly help her.
Thank you!

I'd ask to see some proof.

Apparently, there has been some patients that this has worked on. This is a holistic approach treatment. The research shows that this has to do with the derum matter between the skull and brain. If you google it, there is info out there to help better understand the process of this therapy. Thank you for responding, I am curious to see if anyone has heard of this....;)

My son had cranial sacral therapy on and off for years. It didn't prevent his surgery. But his scoliosis is congenital. If your daughter's is idiopathic, our experiences with it could be different than yours, perhaps.

How did you hear about this treatment? Do you feel that it helped him?

Again, I'd ask to see the proof that this has helped reduce structural scoliosis curves.

We were actually referred to a pediatric specialist in it by our pediatrician. It was supposed to help with Alexander's, at that time, chronic ear and sinus infections. We went on and off for years, esp. after we found out about the scoliosis. Maybe it helped slow down the progression of his curves, probably not though. He always felt good afterwards and the provider said she really loosened the tightness in his body.

I have had that type of treatment and it is wonderful for treating migraines.
As far as scoliosis..I do not know, it may depend on where the curves issues are..might help with a very straight neck...I have no neck curve and this helps release muscle tension and pain.

It is used in techniques as S.O.T or sacral occipital technique. When in the hands of a trained practitioner especially a Chiropractor who specializes in S.O.T it is very helpful with migraines and lots of other pains with the back, in my own experience anyway.
