  • Surgery Scheduled of 8/24/09

    Hi All

I peeked my head in this forum several months back but haven't been an active participant. That will be changing

Just got back from vacation to find my official letter from Georgetown University Hospital that my surgery date is 8/24/09. I will be having the double lumbar surgery.

I'm scared but have lots of great support and am looking forward to being able to walk without severe pain.

Thank you all for being there.

    Back later.

                Wow! Thanks

First let me thank all of you who have extended well wishes to us August surgery folks. It makes a huge difference to have support during this major surgery. Like many of you I'm sure, I have never had major surgery so this is scary. Your support and those of my family and friends are just amazing. My partner is donating blood for my (possible) transfusions, and our pet sitter is taking care of our five pets gratis on the day of my surgery any time we need her during my recuperation.

To mgs, pilar, kt2009 and anyone else having surgery at the end of August, let's keep in touch and exchange notes.

                Have a great day!

You know Karen, I think a little over a month is JUST the right amount of lead time going into this surgery. It gives you enough time to get prepared, but on the other hand, it doesn't leave with months and months to fret. The hardest part, in my opinion, was the waiting.

I agree with Debbe. The waiting is definitely the hardest. I had 9 months to wait, mainly because I chickened out of my first surgery date.

All the very best to those of you with surgeries in the near future!
                            Surgery March 3, 2009 at almost 58, now 63.
