  • New, Confused, and Overwhelmed....

I am not sure if this is where I belong, please tell me if there is a more appropriate place to post...Thanks...Here it goes....

My daughter is 2 1/2 years old. She was born 8 weeks premature and fairly healthy. She has had several bouts of RSV and respiratory problems due to her prematurity. When she was learning to walk she was crooked. (the best way I know how to describe it) Her legs were twisting and she was having problems learning to walk. She eventually adapted to it and now cruises....but she still will have problems now and then.
I took her to an ortho, who said "5 yrs ago we would have braced her, but if she out grows it she does, if not, oh well" Then he stated if I don't like his opinion to take her to Shriners. So, I did.
While we waited for our appt. she was hospitalize 2 times for fevers of 105+ degrees. She will also get a rash. At Shriners they took an xray of her hips, and said everything was fine. They were worried about the fevers and rash though. So, we went back and saw a rheumatologist. He spent 2 mins with us, and stated she was fine.
So, there we were....I have a child who has severe back pain everyday, she gets high fevers every other week, and a rash.
2 weeks ago, I was frusterated beyond all means, and called the ped. to get an appt. She does not sleep through the night because of her pain. Her dr was out so we saw a collegue. He suggested we get an xray and screen her for scoliosis because he could see a curve when whe was sitting on the table. On Tuesday the dr called me back. I knew it wasn't good news because it was 8 pm and he was calling. He said that she does have scoliosis. He doesn't think that it is causing her pain because she is only at 7 degrees...
Reading many of the posts, I know that this is very minor. I don't neccesarily trust our ped, and she is in so much pain. So I called Shriners back and she has an appt next Thursday.
What do I ask? What do I need to know? We are dealing with a lot with her brother, and now her.....I am so confused, and tired....Please help...........

    Hi Cheryl,

I don't have any advice, just wanted to say my thoughts are with you and the docs in finding out what is causing your little one's problems. Have you seen an endocrinologist? Maybe a pain specialist? Good luck. Please let us know how things go.
