I took the train up to New York today for my two year checkup -- all is well. All of those lovely rods and screws are still exactly where Dr. Boachie left them two years ago...!

What a difference a year makes. Last year I had to take a friend with me for my one-year checkup because I still had my cane and felt too fragile to manage on my own. Today after my appointment I walked 20 blocks to meet a friend of mine for lunch, then I shopped for a bit, then I took a late afternoon train home.

That is awesome Chris. It is nice to hear that things can get so much better in the second year post-op. It give me hope. I know I am better at a year and a half than I was at one year. Thanks for posting the good news.

Chris

That's fantastic! Its nice to get over the "sedentary existence" that we go through with our surgeries. Its almost like that bird jumping out of the nest that first time. Flap hard now, don't wanna crash.

20 blocks! I'm not racing with you. I might be embarrassed.

Now the "injured persons dance contest" would be more like it. I kept asking about that at the hospital and nobody thought that was funny. My mistake was I delivered it deadpan on dialuid.

Chris,
That's fantastic news! It's also so encouraging for me to think that '"maybe" I'm just at a speed bump in recovery and once I get over that, I'll start making better progress.

Morning Lynne, I'm not sure what happened to those links, they were working the other day, at least for me. Wonder if anybody else could see them? Anyway, I'll go to Photobucket and get the links again. I thought I was so clever posting those, seems I'm not the techno-nerd after all.;)

I'll post them again in this thread.

Chris,

What a treat to read that you had such a good check up and afternoon of lunch and shopping under your own power in NYC!

Chris-- I am so excited for you! I missed seeing this thread until this morning-- have to confess I just look at the forum in quick snatches these days... The wedding is Saturday (youngest daughter, here in our "garden"/yard)... and am swamped with work/planning/last minute things, etc.-- getting our houses ready for the onslaught of guests (our other two daughters, hubbies and new babies will be staying here, lots of out of state relatives will use this as their base, etc.) and getting all the reception decorations and other things ready, as well as food for at least a few days for everyone. Way too busy, but a good busy. Which is why I want to echo what Chris said about there being a world of difference between one year post-op and two. There is no way I could have done all this work last year. All the time I keep thinking that to myself. I'm so glad the timing is how it is... Two years is soooooo much better!!! I can hardly wait till three years to see how that is too. ;) I'm sure it just gets better and better!

My best to all of you-- I'm still around, just BUSY! :D

I use my NYC back doctor checkups for an opportunity for me and the husband to have a nice lunch, shop and have a good time in the city. It's a blast. :)

I remember your last one Debbei, I was so jealous!

My six month checkup is in August, I think I might kick up my heels a little that day.;):D
