  • Scoliosis Specialist Websites

    Hi...

I have links to a bunch of scoliosis specialists websites:

    http://www.scoliosislinks.com/ScoliosisSpecialists.htm

If you're seeing someone, know they have a website, and they're not on my list, would you let me know?

    Thanks!

    Regards,
    Linda

looking for a college that has a spine program

    hi,
I was told that some colleges have spine program on campus. Where a patient can come and be observed by an orthopedic and they do it for free. My problem is my daughter is in pain and we have no means of paying for MRI and CT scans which they say is the best way to aproach the problem even before going to see the doctor. I would appriciate it so much if you have any advice on that. She already had a surgery in europe 9 years ago. We live in Los Angeles, and no insurance will cover her preexisting condition.
    thank you in advance,
    stella

      Hi Stella...

While I'm sure many doctors would be happy to see your daughter at no charge, it's difficult in these times to get hospitals to comp anything.

Is your daughter 18 or under? If so, she can get free treatment at Shriners:

She can also get free treatment at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital:

        Stella,

Try calling Stanford. There's a world reknowned spine surgeon there, Dr. Larry Rinsky, who's Chief, Pediatric Orthopedics Stanford University Packard Children's Hospital:

        http://ortho.stanford.edu/faculty/lawrence_rinsky.html

Stanford will work with you. They can go to the state and be reimbursed, and they'll also put you on a payment plan for what's not covered by the state. Call and explain your situation, and they will connect you with a social worker who will help you. They also have very nice and inexpensive housing for families of patients right on the hospital property.

        Good luck,

        Susanna

Mother of a 17 year old daughter. Her "S" curve was 40 degree thoracic from T3 to T9, and a 70 degree rotatory thorcolumbar from T9 to L4. She was operated on March 9th, 2005 by Dr. Boachie-Adjei at the Hospital for Special Surgery in NYC. She was fused from T11 to L3, using an anterior approach, and the major curve corrected to 20 degrees. She's doing great!
