Yesterday I got the best Mother's Day gift ever--our first grandchild. My daughter had been hospitalized for about 6 days and needed to go with a C-section. They just couldn't control the blood pressure. So little Parker is 6 weeks early but doing great and 6 pounds, 6ounces and looking great from pics they've sent.
Since he was due the end of June, I thought I'd be much farther with my recovery--so I'm having quite a "first-time grandma" dilemma. We're planning as of now to do a little slow trip to Minneapolis tomorrow, see baby, and mostly sleep in motel, and do another short visit on Wed. I know I can't overdo, but I've got to get my hands on this little guy! By the way, Happy Mother's Day a bit late to all the moms and new grandmas I've been reading about! Janet

Congratulations!

That's amazing how big he is for being 6 weeks early!

My girls were exactly 5 weeks early and were 5 pounds 2 ounces and 5 pounds four ounces and were the right weight for their gestational age.

Again, Congratulations!

What thrilling news, Janet, this will be a big boost to you!

My first grandaughter, Jasmine was born 5.5 weeks early and was 6lb 10oz! She and Mum came home the next day and she's been healthy ever since. She was big then and is now wearing size 7s and she's only 4!

Enjoy this wonderful time in your life, and congratulations!

How exciting- and on Mothers Day to boot. I know you will enjoy him immensely even if you have to have someone put him on your lap!! Nanc

That's wonderful news! So glad you shared... now I can think of you enjoying your first grandbaby while I enjoy my two first two ones. What fun! There are plenty of ways to enjoy your precious one without doing harm to yourself. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!

Congratulations Janet! How exciting. I'm glad they're both OK and he does sound like a big baby for that early! I was a mother's day baby too. :)
