I am now getting close to 4 months out of surgery, and fell a few days ago for the first time. YOWZA. I actually squatted down to put something away in the bathroom and first fell on my butt which made it feel like someone had shoved my spine skyward (WOW...soo much pain) and then lost my balance AGAIN and fell backward smacking my back on the floor. WOW. I am finally starting to feel less bad now...but (as seen in my previous postings), I am not doing great to begin with. I was pretty much useless for the last few days (It happened Friday night).
But I am finally starting to get some mobility back.Growl.
I have my CT on Friday to make sure things are okay (it was scheduled pre-fall), since I was having complications anyway.

All this to say..I feel for anyone that might fall after surgery!!!

Oh, no that sounds really scary. It's a good thing you are getting the CT scan for this and the problems before. I was just thinking about you this morning. I wondered why we hadn't heard from you in a bit. Thought maybe you were super busy with wedding plans. When is the date? Take it easy and no more falls! Janet

Yikes--no more falls for you!! That''s one thing I dread and I TRY to be so careful. Of corse, I've always been a klutz before surgery, so I'm guessing eventually it will happen. Just PLEASE not in the first year, OK God? :)

I'm glad you're feeling a little better. Let us know what happens with your scan. I hope everything is where it should be.

flk,

I fell on my butt the day I came home from the hospital with no damage. You may be sore, but at 4 months out, you're likely fine.

Regards,
Pam

I hope everything is ok. I fell 4 days after my surgery and 3 weeks after my surgery (both from passing out). Nothing moved, so as Pam said, you should be ok. But yes, it is VERY painful.

wow guys! I am so sorry you fell so early! My gosh!

The wedding date is exactly 2 months from today (Mayb 23rd) :-)
I apparently have lost 6 inches around the midsection/chest area since before the surgery...thank goodness I ordered my dress too small. Lol. Unfortunately I still have two more inches to go.

I am sure there is no damage..but man it hurt!

I already trip and stumble all the time because I am so off balance. I also drop things more than I use to. Even standing and hugging my husband I start swaying to the right and I'll say "opps, hold on, I'm falling lol!" Did anyone experience that BEFORE surgery? I am hoping that once they balance me out this will get better. Maybe I am just a clusts. I never use to be though. One of my biggest fears, as I am sure it is for everyone is falling after suurgery:confused:

Glad everyone made it through their falls ok! It's 2:15 am right now and sleep is eluding me. This is been happening a lot lately. Getting more preoccupied with surgery maybe. I still don't htink I am getting nervous but maybe this is how my body is dealing with the nerves who knows. It's a little lonely in the am:(

Susan, I couldn't sleep pre-op ... too many planned contingencies to deal with after an unknown surgery, and a determination to recover solo before I scheduled. You'll be fine.

Pinky swear.

Susan,
I couldnt sleep before surgery, but I am up really late most nights now too. Hopefully that gets better soon. I was pretty unsteady right before the surgery now that you mention it. I fell A LOT before, and only once since, so I guess that is an improvement!

....but I have no fallen yet. I plan on keeping it that way cuz that scares the hell outta me. It's bad enough I have to worry about my sweet(using this term loosly here) dog who resembles Marley (from the movie Marly and Me) pushing me over from saying hello or getting excieted about grocery bags that are all filled full of treats that are clearly for her! Ok she isnt THAT bad...well....umm....maybe she is...just alittle! lol I try my best to be real careful and when I squat down to pick something up or what have you, I always take it nice and slow. Im sure as time passes and I get more sure of myself, I will take a spill...til then, fingers crossed!

And to those of you who have, Im so glad no one has gotten hurt too badly! Take it easy ladies!! :)
