Hello,

I am having revision surgery April 6th in Amarillo, Texas. I live in north Houston, and I have a question about traveling home following my surgery. I imagine that flying would be the best way to go. I know the flight is about 2.5 hours. I know that the seats on airplanes do not recline much. I would like some advice about this. Did anyone else fly home and did you make any specific arrangements?

Thanks,

Terry B

Terry,

I flew home from Amarillo to Dallas after my revision surgery in 2000 with no problems. I just took a pain pill right before boarding. I can't say that it was the easiest day of my life, but it wasn't a problem. I have made that trip on other occasions when Southwest cancelled my flight, and I had to take a later flight. That would have been really difficult when making the post-op trip home.

If you're looking for a place to stay for a few days after getting out of the hospital, you might consider the Marriott Courtyard. Dr. LaGrone removed some bone spurs from my neck a couple of years ago, and I stayed there for a few days after getting out of the hospital. I was quite comfortable there.

Good luck with your revision! Alyssa

Thank you Alyssa. I am sure it will not be the easiest day either, but I am sure it will be easier than a 14 hour drive.
