Another Female Question :)

When I had my surgery, I was in the midst of my period (remember how upset I was about that?) Wednesday will be 8 weeks since my surgery.

I haven't had a period yet. Not that I'm so unhappy about it, LOL, but I was just wondering how long is too long. There is no chance of being pregnant since my hubby had a V. years ago.

I wonder if surgrey could have kicked me into peri-menopause. Prior to this I was always more than regular, about every 26 days.

Count your blessings! I had 9 periods in 4 months following my surgery. I had to go on the pill at 46 to get them back in sync. Surgery really messes your system up. Sorry I can't answer your question about how long before things are back to normal, hopefully soon though. Glad you are doing well and pushing hard in recovery.

I just had to reply on this one. I can only imagine the impact that this surgery has on your body and including hormonal system. My experience is from the other side. My son had surgery one and a half years ago. I was expecting my period the day after his surgery, well I didn't get it and it was three whole months before I did get it. I was always right on time and I have since been totally on time like clockwork. I can only attribute it to major stress and worry. So I would think in time you will return to your old routine.

Debbe - Sounds like a cool problem to have....lol...kidding of course. Thats funny that you bring this us as I was recently counting the days to see if I would have to bother with my period while in the hospital. I should be mid cycle then....but then again, we all know how stress effects everything. I would say that if you dont get it w/in 3 months, you should call your OB just to make sure nothing else is going on. While you know you arent pregnant, you should still make sure everything else healthy & in order. Take care!

I didn't get my period after surgery until about 4 months or so afterwards when i started taking birth control again. Although, my periods were really irregular beforehand so I wasn't really surprised that I never really got it after surgery until help from hormones came. I'm sure your ok, just give your body some time to recover.

I think this is quite usual. I got mine the week before I went in and then not again until about 10/11 weeks after. Since that things pretty much gone back to normal for me which is regular every month. Hope this sets your mind at rest.

Thanks so much everyone, for all the replies. I'll wait another month or so and I think by that time I have to go for a pap anyway so I'll ask the Dr. I'm really not complaining about this one but was just curious what happened to everyone else. Between the shock to the system from the surgery itself and the stress I put myself thru worrying about it, I gues it's not surprising.

Good for you!! It's amazing to me still how much this surgery messes with our whole bodies. And amazing to me also how we are actually able to recover!

Even with my little 20 minute surgery to remove the cross piece on the 11th I am all screwed up. I have now had 2 periods since that surgery. I never would have thought such a short surgery would have messed with my system again.
