View Full Version : Sooooo Nervous

Wow I am so anxious. I don't know how to get through this part. I try to keep telling myself you can do this and my brain tells me I can but my heart jumps in there and all I can say is wow. My husband has been great but he is also very stressed as you all know. Then tonight my oldest son decide he was going up north for the weekend with 20 22year olds so now I get to worry about him too. Sorry for the whining just needed to vent.

You're going to do great. Take a long hot bath, the last for a while, and relax. Get a pedicure, a massage or what ever sounds good and just enjoy it. I'll be thinking of you next week.

I must be the only wuss who's resorted to anti-anxiety medication??

I highly recommend them. I'm on 10 mg Esipram per day. I don't get tired, and I'm sleeping well. Might need to double them near my surgery date though.;)

Take care Catherine. I like the sound of that massage, and think it's worth trying too, if you have time.

Hi Catherine
hang on it there not long to go now the idea of a long hot soak in the tub and treat yourself to a couple of back massages are really good suggestions - two things I did myself before going in. Remember that deep breathing too - it really does help. I surprised myself and on the day was actually quite calm and ready - I am sure you will be too.
Thinking of you lots and 'vent away' it really does help
All the best

Hey there Catherine,

Let me tell you (honestly!) that the anticipation of the surgery is the worst part. I was very anxious and nervous, just like you, in the days leading up to Tahlia's surgery, but was surprisingly calm and relaxed on the day. You will be too and it will all go swimmingly well. We all worry about our kids because that's natural and just what we do as caring mums and dads, but Danielle will be in brilliant hands with a team of surgeons, anaesthetists and nurses all monitoring her closely and ensuring they get the best possible outcome with minimal risk. This was a thought that got me through as well as the knowledge that this surgery is done all the time (not just by my surgeons) but around the world, with excellent results. So the odds are all in Danielle's favour.

I will look forward to your posts stating how well the op went, how relieved you are feeling and how well she is doing.

Keep us informed and look after yourself.

It'll be like a ton of bricks off your shoulders when that surgeon greets you after the surgery. I know how hard this time is but you will get through it. Try to keep yourself very busy over the weekend so you can't stop to think too much. do something fun with your daughter this weekend like go shopping or go to a decadent tea room.
Hope this weekend goes fast for you and we'll be thinking about you.

I've been thinking of you a lot, too, Catherine, knowing that Danielle's surgery is coming up. I'm glad you posted a separate thread so we can keep track of her progress.

Know that you have a lot of support here and that you all will be in everyone's thoughts and prayers.

Take care of yourself, too!

Ditto what the others have said. You and Danielle are in my thoughts and prayers. SOOOON you'll be on the other side of this surgery. Hugs, Susie

Well now I feel like a big ol dork! Well bigger than usual. I thought you were having the surgery! No wonder you are a wreck. I think I would be going nuts if it was one of my kids. Sorry for misunderstanding, I've been a bit out of the loop here. Just had surgery to have some of my hardware removed a week ago. So now go do a massage with your daughter, go to tea with her, have some special time with her and again I will still be thinking of you Monday, but now I know to think of Danielle too! :D

We can talk all we want about our experiences, but yours is the most important one, and I don't think you'll really believe us until you go through it yourself.

You've done your homework and you can do this. It will be okay, and Danielle will be okay. We're all thinking of you, and will be on Monday, too.

Hang in there; it will be over soon.
