View Full Version : How are Geish and Sidney doing?

I was noticing that Geish had same-day hardware removal scheduled for the 11th, and Sidney (13) was scheduled today. Had anyone heard how they're doing? My prayers are with them both!

I heard from Geish very early in the morning on the 12th-- her surgery went well, but she was experiencing pain-- trying to get the pain med situation settled in. She said she would write more later. Anyway, she was doing fine, other than the pain.

I'm glad Geish's surgery is over. I hope the pain subsides quickly.

Thought I would give a little update. I have the pain under control now and I figured out why they give you that wonderful little button to push when you stay in the hospital. This surgery hurt more than the original surgery. I think its because I didn't get that delicious shot in the spine this time that kept it numb for a few days. I have developed a rash from the tape they used to hold the drape in place during the surgery. It goes from hip to hip and looks like I was swatted with a ruler. It is very tender and painful. nothing I have tried has helped. I am just dusting it with corn starch now and at least it doesn't seem to be getting any worse.

The hardware they removed turned out to be two hook pieces. They look really cool and my 15 year old wants me to make jewelry out of them. The actual surgery went really well and I was out of the hospital by 4:30 and we were home by 8. Sorry for the rambling, I think its medication induced! I'll try to repost when my head is clear.

Glad to hear you are OK Geish. Cortisone cream might help with the rash if it gets any worse. I ended up with a rash all over my entire torso after the first surgery. It itched like crazy and took several weeks to finally go away. Sally

My goodness Alicia, are you saying that you were home the same day? What a woman :) I had a bad gash on my face after the surgery, not sure what it was from. They kept putting antibiotic ointment on it in the hospital which seemed to help it. I hope your tape marks go away soon.

Good to hear from you Geish. I hope the rash clears up quickly and you can concentrate on your recovery. I too, am amazed you were sent home the same day. It's incredible how quickly some people are sent home these days. I've even heard of certain cardiac surgery where patients are sent home on the same day.

Having said that, I know where I'd rather be.;)

Take care and keep us up to date!
