I tracked down our patient Nancy Joy and she is so sorry that her husband didn't contact us. Apparently, he thought he did, but he actually called some people at work.

Nancy Joy sounds terrific! Totally alert and completely thrilled with her surgery. She said and I quote, "It went ten times as well as I expected!"

She also credits the forum for how well she is doing now, because she went into surgery well prepared and peaceful.

On the first day after surgery, she walked around the ward twice or three times, not quite sure. Also, she has been able to sit up for an hour and twenty minutes during one spell.

The scoliosis pain, she says, was FAR WORSE than the pain she feels now as she recovers from her surgery.

She is still waiting for her digestive system to work perfectly and then she hopes to go home on Monday.

OMG That's amazing and wonderful! She had such a long surgery too, didn't she? She gives me hope!

Thanks for tracking her down and updating us Ginger. Even though we are strangers to each other, as we all are, it's great to know she's going well and is in such great spirits. This surgery kind of makes us kindred spirits in a way, doesn't it?

Cheers,
Jen

I'm so happy to hear that!! It gives me hope, and a little burst of excitement as well! I'd say my current stats are 75% fear and 25% excitement. :)

Thanks Ginger for getting the news to us.

That is SO awesome, and BAD Nancy Joy husband - LOL!

(I'm so kidding ... it's understandable how things can get goofed up in the aftermath :)

What great news!

Thanks Ginger for the good news about NancyJoy. I know that she has another surgery to go but the worst one is over. Lets hope she has a fast and uneventful recovery. Sally

She said that if the next surgery is anything like this one, she'll be thrilled.

I certainly wasn't like Nancy Joy AT ALL! I was groggy, falling in and out of sleep mid-sentence, always asking for more pain meds.

However, once I left the hospital, I improved with lightning speed.

WE ARE ALL SO DIFFERENT!

I just can't stop laughing that Nancy was "misplaced" ... I'm not sure I've ever seen a search squad sent after a list member ... ;-)
