It's raining cats and dogs here in Indiana-- and I've been seeing how hard Ike hit in Houston and other places in Texas. Anyone hear from Pam-- or others down there like Sherie (Sheena's mom), Houston Curves (I think she's from there!), etc.??? Just feeling concerned...

Aye, I second that. It would be nice for news from our southern forum members.

Hi-
I have received a few text messages from Pam. She is doing fine - cooped up in the house with family - no power anywhere around - cash only everywhere - no atms, no gas. Also, of course she is out trying to clean up & saw trees and all!! I have told her to please be careful, but even a hurricane won't slow down Pam :-)
I told her you were all asking about her.

Pam vs Ike

I'd say that is a fair contest. :D

Please give her our best though.

Thanks Cara. I'm so glad she is OK. Wish we could all be there to help her with those trees. Sally

We are up in Dallas. My husband couldn't get back in from a business trip to Peurto Rico. I was heading up to my son in Nacogdoches and stay at his guys only college apt. On the way I heard that the storm was going to hit them as well so asked him to come with me to Dallas the next morning to go to my little brother's house plus my husband was able to get a flight into Dallas. Our house looks okay from the front, word from neighbors on our street. They haven't looked in the back and didn't say if our trees in front were down or not. We have no power and water. Our neighborhood has lots of big trees all over, alot of them are down. Sounds like no water problems. Might head back later this afternoon or tomorrow morning. No school we I work until at least Thursday. Apparently the biggest problem with the power is that the big metal electric towers have been knocked down and that is a bigger thing to fix then just downed lines. It looks like Galveston will have to rebuild just about everything. Soooooo, so far not to bad I hope.

I hope your house is ok, but at least your family is safe.

On TV I saw a Galveston city councelman talking and he said they've been trying to get the power lines moved underground for awhile now, just so that this would not happen. Maybe this will spur them to finally do it, and for the next time hopefully no power outages.
