I had a lower back fusion in 99. Things went good for a couple of years. After that, I have pain everyday. My curve has gone from 25% to 43% in 10 years. I believe that I have the pain due to the curve. I went to see specialists, everyone tries meds, Vioxx, Celebrex. If I get bad enough during the work day, I take ultracet, but sometimes that makes me sleepy. I don't know where to try next. I went to one pain specialist that tried injecting into 5 facets. That made the pain worse for 2 weeks then back to the regular pain. I have a check in with a specialist in 4 months. Anyone got any ideas for me? I have pain 30 minutes or less after rising in the morning. I use sleeping pills to get to sleep plus a heating pad. Would a chriopractor help?

Sandy - They are not sure why. I guess it is just the curve. All they do is try a different med and say see you in 6 months. I have pain 30 minutes after being up until I go to bed at night. Then it is a heating pad and sleeping meds to get 6 hours at best.
I am going to try another suggestion that posting on finding another doc.

Hi Sally,
Sorry to hear you're in pain for such a long time. I had low-back pain but from degenerative disc and disc injury. They tried me on everything like injections and anti-inflammatories, but what really helped me was a small daily dose of anti-depressants (amitriptyline) which my doctor says often helps relieve low back pain. You may want to ask you doctor if it is worth a try. It got my pain down to about half or 25% on good days.
Wishing you courage and speedy relief, let us know how you do.
