  • Update!

    Hey all!!

sorry it has taken so long for me to get on here. and a while. our internet was down and messin up alot. so i couldnt respond to anything. anyways. so i am now home! thank goodness!! and i also had a pretty busy week before last wednesday. but i had alot of fun that was so worth it!

I'll give a day by day type thing when i have the energy. I'm doing okay right now. i've been home for two days now. i was able to go home on post-op day 6. i was having some good days and some bad days. but was so glad to leave. i'm on some pain meds and that helps alot.

the limited mobility is startin to get to me. its not easy but overall i guess it was worth it. clothes and things will fit so much better now so its pretty exciting.

My surgery was 5 1/2 hours long. i went from a 59* curve to a 0* curve i was so amazed!!! The doctor had told us later on that with a curve that severe that someone has had for as long as i had they usually are just able to put in the rods to keep it from getting any worse but once i was on the table they seen they were able to move it much further since i was so flexible. but i will write more later. just wanted to give you the update

    good luck to other mays!!
    hugs

Yay Brittany! That's great that you are up to posting and that your doctor was able to get such amazing correction! Yes, this next stage (recovery) is hard work, but you'll bounce back fairly quickly. I'm looking forward to hearing more about your surgery and stay at the hospital... and how you're doing at home. Big hugs!

This is an amazing result. You must be thrilled. It makes all the pain worth it. Good luck to you. It sounds like things are going well, although I know the journey is not easy.

thanks! i was very pleased. i had gotten a little worried the first time i looked in the mirror in the hospital. one shoulder was much higher then the other. its almost straightened out now but i guess with all the readjusting my back and muscles are doing here and there is going to be a little out of the ordinary. i was just so excited to feel both shoulders on the bed. my left side (opposite of the hump) is the only place i feel pain from. feels like someone pressing extremely hard right under my shoulder blade. and on the side where my ribs are i have slight muscle spasms. but not too bad. i have been walking alot already. so there really is light at the end of the tunnel!!!
