Risser

I have heard about this on message boards but we have never been told anything about where my daughter falls in the risser scale. What exactly is it all about and does anyone know where she would fall?

If your daugther is eight years old, I'd be shocked if she wasn't a 0 on the Risser scale.

Yeah I would definitely be surprised if she was anything but a zero.
In case you don't know its a measurement of how your growth plates are(how well they have close up) a 0 means they have tons of growth left and a 5 would mean adult. Typically (there are other standards) one requirement that needs to be met to get a brace off is to reach a 4 on the risser scale, which is almost full maturity. I am a 3 and I know people my age who are still 0's. But once your risser reaches a 1 it will probably go up a number at every doctor's appt after that. My first I was a 0, the second a 1, third a 2, 4th a 3rd and I have another one in 10 days and wouldn't be too surprised if I was a 4. But anyway, that's what a risser is! Hope I helped!

Thank you girls! My daughter is very average height for her age and weighs about 57lbs... So I'm sure judging by what you guys have said she falls in a zero... Thanks!
