  • Excersises after surgery

    Hey everyone,

When do you think I would be able to do excersises like crunches, push ups, running, etc.? I'm starting aerobics in August -- do you think that would be too soon? How long was it before you started doing more excersises? I'm just wondering if I should change my schedule or if it would be ok to take aerobics in the fall.

Thank you so much for your time!!

You really should ask your surgeon. I wouldn't do anything he doesn't clear you to do. I have been told no crunches ever, but I am fused to the sacrum. Your Dr will give you the best advice.

I agree - ask your doctor. I'm four and a half months post op, and I'm allowed to do crunches, but I'm only fused to L1, and I have do them very slowly, and I only barely lift my head and shoulders up. It depends how jumpy your aerobics class is... I know jumping is not a back-friendly motion because of the impact.
