Esme has been experiencing difficulty using her hands lately and I am beginning to wonder if this has something to do with her scoliosis...

We were recently going to Toronto so she could compete in the Rubik's Cube speeding cubing competition but we didn't go because her hands were hurting when she was cubing. We thought the pain in her hands was due to too much practicing with the Rubik's cube, asked her not to cube for a while to let her hands heal and hoped it would get better. She was practicing a lot getting ready for the competition.

Anyway, this pain has not gone away even though she has stopped cubing. Of course everything she does is with her hands - school work, crafts, computer, drawing, etc. so it is hard to tell if she is resting her hands enough.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced problems with pain in their hands and been told by a doctor it is related to or caused by scoliosis?

Ruth, that is so strange what you just described about Esme and her hands!!!!! Elysia when doing homework or sitting and writing or colouring in - would often complain to me that her hand was going strange. She couldn't hold the pencil properly when this would happen and get quite upset. I NEVER associated this with her scoliosis but now wonder since you posted that. She hasn't complained once about this since surgery!!! Interesting to note though!

Let's see what everyone else thinks on this?

Googling seems to suggest there could be a connection. Will have to ask her doctor.........
