  • Best meds for muscle spasms?

Hi all -- the weird sensations I was having have developed into excruciating muscle spasms throughout my torso all around the side incision. Thank goodness they seem to go to sleep when I do, but during the day -- wow, unbelievable. I took Beclafen yesterday which hasn't helped much. Maybe it needs time to kick in?

What meds have worked best for those of you who have experienced these? Thanks...

    Hi Singer,

Seem to remember using flexeril for the first couple months for these.
They do fade away with time. Think others have mentioned heating pads.

      Hi Chris,

My Dr. gave me Valium. I was taking 1/2 a 5mg tab when my muscle spasms kicked in. I was able to function on them just fine. 1 whole tab made me wiggy........

        love that skelaxin.....

hello Singer- I have taken Skelaxin for years and find it helps enough that I can cut down on the Vicodon... Good luck with the spasms, in my opinion, that probably accounts for most of our pain at 3-4 months recovery. Lisa

I use a heating pad for muscle spasms. It also helps for most pain. If you are at work and can't plug one in, there are ones that you can out in the microwave and the heat lasts for a couple of hours.

Thanks all for the suggestions -- a heating pad and half a Valium seem to be doing the trick!
