  • Detroit/Ann Arbor area surgeons for post surgery second opinion

Can anyone recommend a Dr. in the Detroit/ Ann Arbor area. I need to get a second opinion on my daughters surgery that she had one year ago and is experiencing a lot of pain. It also looks to us like the curve is coming back. The Dr. that did her surgery said everything looks good and won't address the pain except to say he doesn't know what it is and just because she is in pain doesn't mean its from the surgery. We have to travel out of town to see him and we already know that it is a waste of time and money. We will not be getting any help from him on these issues.

Hello LAL....sorry this is so late but I don't log onto this site much because my daughters surgery was a year ago. But when I came across your question regarding a dr who will deal with the pain is frustrating and I can relate. My daughter is now in a palllative program with hospice (she has other medical issues so don't panic!) and she has been on Morphine for her pain and is now on a Fentynol patch. She has about 17 specialists at Childrens in Detroit and no one can tell me where the pain is coming from. I am assuming it is because of nerve damage after her spinal fusion. She was at 92 degree curvature and corrected her to 30-35 degrees....so there has to be some sort of damage I would think. I really like her ortho, Dr. Reynolds but he too said the pain shouldn't be from her back....I don' think they know it all though, especially after reading the stories here.

Anyhow, I don't know if that helps you at all but my daughter is in the same boat (one year post-op). Contact me if you would like. mel48315@wowway.com
