New Here and seeking Dr. near Cleveland, OH

Hi!

I am 47 and have a 53 degree Thorasic curve. Am just beginning to explore my possibilities and looking for a good Dr. near Cleveland, OH. Also, does anyone have info or have gone through the newer "less invasive" procedure from the side???

There have been several references here by members who used the services of doctors at the Cleveland Clinic. Two names that come to mind are Isador Lieberman and Robert McLain.

Hi Radiogirl,

I had my surgeries with Dr. McLain in May of 05, and I adore him. And I wasn't one of his easier cases. We all wish for the least invasive type of surgery, but it isn't always possible.

I hoped for the less invasive surgery, but when he explained my situation and what he needed to do to help me, I trusted him completely. Mine was rough, but I have been in contact with another of his patients that's a 47 year old female that had her surgery Aug. 8th of this year and I spoke to here 2 weeks afterwards, and I was a little jealous. She's doing great!!! When she called me I was so impressed with how well she sounded.

I am so proud of her, and so in awe of him.

I was just at the Cleveland Clinic Spine Clinic yesterday for an eval and 2nd opinion on my past surgery fiasco and I was impressed. We met with Dr. Ahmed and then Mezanic (?) after that. The only problem that I encountered was that I was sent for x-rays and blood work and that will take a few days to get back and we live three and a half hours away so another trip will be coming.

Well...update from my first post of August 07!....I had 3 different evaluations with various local Spine Specialists...from the Cleveland Clinic, to University Hospital, to an Akron Dr. I found on the SRS Forum. They all said I should go to Lenke in St. Louis. So, I did go this June (09) for a consultation with him. My curve is now 62 degrees..and Dr. Lenke thought I would be a great candidate for major improvement. So...I set my surgery date for 5/5/10..next May! That is the first opening he has! .. And GET THIS....it's exactly one week before my 50th birthday!!!
