Congratulations on news that makes you happy!!!

I think that Doctors are always coming up with different solutions to our problems. I think it's hard for them because we all have the same condition but none exactly alike.

I am also curious about this new technique, so I hope you keep us informed!!!

Any kind of new information is valuable to anyone that is contemplating this surgery. I think it's as important as any of us that have had the surgery, that share our experience!!! And that's what we are all here for!!!

I worry about the phrase "try another". It sounds experimental. My concern is that, with scoliosis, the whole spine must be considered. What if you relieve the pain just in that one spot with the X-stop only to have the other vertebrae continue curving? What if it throws the rest of the spine off balance?

It's the concept of "tunnel vision" I am concerned about. Is this doctor a scoliosis specialist or a regular ortho? Were the 4 other opinions from scoliosis doc?
I don't want to burst your balloon.
            Original scoliosis surgery 1956 T-4 to L-2 ~100 degree thoracic (triple)curves at age 14. NO hardware-lost correction.
Anterior/posterior revision T-4 to Sacrum in 2002, age 60, by Dr. Boachie-Adjei @Hospital for Special Surgery, NY = 50% correction

                  X-stop device

I read most of the abstracts regarding this device in the National Library of Medicine on-line. Below are recent ones.

The consensus is that it is helpful for a certain percentage of persons with lumbar stenosis and spondylolithesis. I didn't see a thing relating to its use in a patient with significant scoliosis.

I think I read somewhere your curve is 85?? Mine was 80 at age 60 and they got it down to 40---And I was much older that you are now when I had it done. I have no pain.
