I just got my brace so I don't know if this will help, but when I can't find anything in the morning I take 5 deep breaths think and look for clothes and if you don't have someting clean tell your mom and you can posibly go shopping. When shopping I just look for stuff I like you want to be as comfortable as possible so look for something you like then look for your size. If you don't see it ask some one it might be in the back. If you need to try on clothes take a big dressing room for room. Then try them on and don't get frusturated. If you have to keep going to the store to find different sizes. I had my mom run about 30 times for me. My biggest tip I have is take deep breaths and think before you act. Don't go screaming just scream into a pillow.

Hi there,

I have the same problem with my 12 year old. We have purchased lots and lots of tops with hoods, some are jackets and some are tops. Also because her brace mostly shows at the back at the top - we've discovered if she wears one of those little back pack bags - it hides the brace! Obviously you can't keep it on at school but when walking around you could wear one.

Hope that helps!

Keep smiling! :p

Hi Laura,
I know what it feels like.. trust me.. i went through it the first month of wearing a brace.. On the site "Spinekids" (maybe you heard of it, maybe not) there is a section where it says "Bracing tips& tricks.. i found this on there.. take a look..

Where to Shop: The stores that are most recommended are the Gap, Aeropostale, Old Navy, and Hollister. If you’re looking for great sweats (the best brace clothes!), Walmart has a good selection as does Gap. If you have money to spend, Juicy Couture has really great things, but Juicy sweats can get quite expensive! In department stores (Macy*s, Bloomingdales) ‘Activewear’ sections are the best.

A Note of Encouragement: Shopping for brace clothes isn’t going to be easy. You may have to change your style a little, but you can still incorporate the colors and brands you love into a great ‘brace outfit’. You have to be diligent when you shop for brace clothes. You can go to a zillion stores and only find a couple things, but sometimes you’ll strike gold and find a bunch of outfits. Remember: the fact that you have a brace doesn’t mean you can never wear an awesome outfit again and look cute in it. With persistence, the right combination of clothes, and any clever tricks you discover along the way, you’ll look fabulous.

One Last Word About Clothes: If something makes you feel ugly or fat, don’t buy it, even if it covers the brace. You need to feel great in your clothes.

By the way, another good store to buy shirts from is Puma. I got my first and most favorite shiets from there :) ! Hope this helps!!
