  • Measuring for a TLSO Brace?

How is a TSLO brace made or at least measured for? I seem to be seeing mainly that they do a body cast first and work off that.

Now I am confused. My daughter is having one made at this moment, and all they did was take a bunch of measurements with a cloth tape measure and some t-bar type thing. The company doing the brace is called Hanger.

Now I am confused and wondering how in the world they can make a useful brace out of that info.

    What have your experiences been??

    Jazzeve,

I've seen it done both ways - with a plaster cast and also with a lot of very precise measurements and they send these along with the x-ray to the company that makes the brace. They can still "tweak" if afterwards to fit her body better. This is sometimes even necessary when they take the cast mold.

You can certainly ask your doctor about it though.

    Good luck,
