  • Nubness in Legs - Help Please

Tonight, I have been laying down, sitting down and standing, went for a nice 30 minute walk, and my legs feel really weird.

Either my thighs are numb, where I slap them and it does not hurt, or my calves feel that way.

It's not pins and needles numb it's like no feeling.

    What do I do?

    Hi Justine,

What a scary feeling! I hope you have since let your parent(s) know about this....?

      Where are you being treated?

Thirteen degrees is not a very large curve, and you may be near skeletal maturity, but with the symptoms you describe and a left thoracic curve, an MRI to rule out any underlying conditions would be prudent.

Hugs to you! This is all overwhelming and stressful, isn't it?
God has used scoliosis to strengthen and mold us. He's good all the time!On this forum these larger curves have not held forever in Spinecor, with an initial positive response followed by deterioration. With deterioration, change treatment. The first year she gained 4 or 5 inches and was stable at around 20/20 in brace, followed by rapid progression the next year. She is now 51/40 (Jan2008)out of brace (40/30 in Spinecor) and started at 38/27 out of brace(Jan2006.) Now in Cheneau.

My legs get like that, too sometimes.
Actually, not numb per se, but they (my thighs) feel like they're tightening.

          Quick questions:
Do your feet fall asleep easily/often?

I'm assuming you are a ballerina because of your name. Is it posible that you are stretching or holding the splits too long? If i hold my splits while stretching for over a minute and a half they start to feel pretty weird..idk i have scoliosis, too. so maybe its the stretching?

I know exactly what you mean, it happens to me sometimes too.. try picking your brace a little up.. It all depends on what brace you have .. It atleast works for me..

^^No, it does not happen from stretching. It just happens whenever which is very odd. Also, for the above poster, I do not wear a brace, so unfortunately, it's not that easy

Hiya, I get that too. Do you get it in both legs or only in the leg that your spine curves towards? Cos i get it in both for some reason even though i only have a right thoracic/lumber. Can you do anythin to bring back the feeling?? x x

For me, it happens in both of my legs. Nothing seems to trigger it, and nothing seems to make the feeling come back. It just comes and goes at different times throughout the day. I talked to my doctor about it, and I was sent for tests so I am awaiting those results.

Yeah, same here: numbness in both and totally random times! Well, I hope your tests come back fine - my surgery's on 23rd July so I don't see the point of tests. Eek. lol. x x

Thanks! I've waited years for this and I've gotta say I'm a bit nervous. I'm going on a 4 day hike for my Duke of Edinburgh award tomorrow and I'm absolutely terrified that I'll come back with a cold or something that could jeopardise it! lol. Anyway, back to the point. lol. I hope the tests help you find out if there is anything you can do about the numbness.
