View Full Version : Aqua-therapy is great!

I am five months post-op. As a fifty year old, it is apparently taking longer to get rid of the pain. My muscles are bound up in knots and physical therapy has only been minimally helpful thus far. This week I was sent to aqua therapy and the swimming and exercises in the pool are really great. I still have pain but the muscles seem to be loosening up some. I do have one physical therapist that really "works on me" and tries to release some pressure points and muscles. I hope to see improvement as the year goes by. The doctor seems to think it is not unusual to have constant pain for a year or more at my age.

Try aqua therapy if you get a chance.

Take care,

Please hang in there with the therapy pool. It has helped me incredibly. I have been going in 3-4 times per week to work on pre-op strenghtening.Years ago my spine specialist sent me to a group near my home with an indoor pool heated to 92 degrees. The therapists worked with me in the water doing all kinds of incredible exercises. I jogged against a powerful jet. I became so strong that I was able to resume downhill skiing in my late 50's.I have surgery next week and the first thing I intend to do in get back in that pool! It is amazing!
Best of luck

Joan, I'm so glad you're feeling better. Keep up the good work!

It really strikes me how different everyone's experience is with post-op pain. It seems to me that age isn't always the primary factor...unless you're a teen, of course...then everything seems to be a breeze...!
