heating pad?

I called my doctors office today b/c ive been having back pain(7 mths post op) and I asked about a heating pad. my nurse told me only 20 minutes at a time and on low. I was just wondering why that is?

Hi...

You should ask the nurse to be certain, but I suspect it's because the heating pad will inflame the area, and potential inhibit the fusion process.
