Hello, here are 2 pictures of my back before my surgery....and one picture TWO DAYS after my surgery.

What I was thinking....is EVERYONE POST THEIR SCOLIOSIS PICTURES HERE!!!

I'll post a more recent picture of my back since it's now fully healed once I get a camera :) My back now looks AWESOME!!!!

Have a good day!

Sparks, you look great! What were your curves before, and what are they now? Just curious!

Hi Sparks,

Congratulations on your outcome!!! :) It looks great!!! I took before and after pictures also, but have not had the guts to develop them yet. And that was 18 months ago, I think it's about time I do that. I guess I"m still afraid of what I may see!!!

Silly me???

Before my surgery I know my angle was 52 or 53 degrees?? Not 100% sure...which one haha. Now its probably about 9 degrees :)

Yea, the after pic is from JUST after the surgery (2 days or maybe 3)...so of course my body has changed since that after pic.....but it's changed for the better. So I actually have my woman curves...but no scoliosis curves :)

Can't wait to post my NOW pictures...I think that will help people who haven't had the surgery realize that afterwards (in my case) gettin rods in your back really isn't the hugest deal in the world after all :)

Why does this all have to be so confusing?! I have a similar curve Sparks, and I just think of how much better I'd look and feel without it. But I do understand it's a huge decision. Anyway, thanks for your positive words - it does help a lot!

Lynne, I'd love to see your before/after pictures!

I still don't spend much time on computer...hopefully will be able to participate a little more soon. I did ask my doctor for copies of my before and after X-rays and thought I would share. I was one of those severe cases with lots of complications.

Sparks, you look great!!!

Sparks and Marcia, I think you both had really good results.

WOW, Marcia! You must be six inches taller! Looks like I will require as extensive a fusion as yours. Good to see you posting again. Will look forward to more of your posts.

Are there any 40+ years old people that have before and after scoliosis surgery pictures?

I think I'll ask my daughter to do it... I don't have pics yet but promise I'll take one this weekend of 47 yr old with 80 pre - op and the next one post op (asap after feb 14). X- rays are with my doc so that'll have to wait 'til after.

to post a pic....first you need to click on repky to thread

scroll down and there's a button called "manager attachments" click on that and you're on your way.

by the way...I had to edit my picures and make them smaller before I could put them on this site

Marcia,
Glad you are posting again- how are you?? Your back looks great! Do you know if your doctor used "resection" on you? (Remove a piece of the spine). You had excellent results!!

I have pics but since my surgery went all the way to S1 I am embarressed to post them because it shows a little more than just my bones--haha. They are a bit too private to be passing around on the internet. I haven't even shown my kids!!

I had posterior surgery 7/24/06 from T5 to L5. You can see the curve measurements on the x-rays--apx. 72 and 77 degrees before with about 50% correction and gain of 2 inches height. I still have a hump on the right side but nothing like before.

Well you can really see how you gained height. Looks good that was a really good correction you got.

Hi Deb,

Your lumbar curve in your before picture is almost identical to mine. Looks like your apex is at L1, same as mine. I've even compared your x-ray next to mine. Whereas your lumbar curve is convex to the right, mine is convex to the left, but I don't have the thoracic curve like you have. Makes me wonder then why I am being advised to have such a drastic fusion. The two consenting surgeons are telling me A/P from T-1 to the pelvis in two or three operations. I just don't get it.

Glad to hear you're doing so well.

Deb

Very impressive X rays and correction. Really encouraging as I am same age and have one 80 curve, with planned fusion T4 to L5. It looks like more than 50 correction ...

I just checked out all the pictures on this thread -- wow. I LOVE seeing these. Marcia and Deb, your corrections are wonderful.

Deb,
I love the screws - they look so much more stable than these ol' CD rod hooks of mine! Oh well...after 18 years, they're apparently imbedded in tons of bone by now. You look great!

Wow Sai, the difference looks amazing! Thanks for all that info! What degree curvature was your spine at when you had the op?

sai
02-04-2007, 02:51 PM
Your more than welcome marty

it was 49 degrees before op

dont know what it is now but looks like 0 to me compared with before. My right shoulder was higher than left before and now left is slightly higher but no big deal. il never be "normal" but its good enough for me compared to before

Sue,
I have before and after x-rays. I was 46 when I had my first scoliosis surgery in 2004. I had revision surgery twice in 2005. I will get them on here.

Here are my before and after (since you ask for over 40 year olds to contribute...).

http://s36.photobucket.com/albums/e15/warpedwoman/?action=view&current=spinejune2006web.jpg

I still have 30 degree curves but its all stable which is all I want for my future.

There are more pictures on my photobucket site ( http://s36.photobucket.com/albums/e15/warpedwoman/) and my blog.

Hope you like them.....
