I'm 21 and had my surgery at 16. I had the rods and my spine fused from the mid to upper spine. Since this past thursday my lower back has been having really bad pains. The pains feel like a severe ache, and when I touch my back it feels like a bruise sensation from my lower back to my mid back. I was wondering if anyone has had something similiar. I don't know what to do.

    Jessica...

Please make an appointment to see your scoliosis surgeon. If you've moved or just need a new specialist, you can find a list of them here:

I haven't seen a doctor about my back since the actual surgery because my parents couldn't afford to. Now I work at a Burger King so I'm still not sure if I could afford to see a specialist or not.

Go to one anyways!! All doctors allow patients to make payments. It is very important to find out if any damage has been done to your back. It is also important to know if your rods are a part of the problem. Be sure to write down any activity that's new or out of the ordinary for you (that was before the pain started). Also include any bumps, falls or jostles. If you don't go the the back surgeon then go to your regular doctor 1st. But at any rate GO TO THE DOCTOR!!!!!!!!
