  • Anyone from Tenn/Alabama area?

I have posted an inquiry in the Non-Surgical Adult section as well...and just in case, I'm posting here also...
I would just like to know if anyone in this area of the South happens to know of one Scoliosis support group or organization that studies, researches or helps patients cope with this condition.

I have only found them to be in larger cities in the Northern States (i.e. mostly New York).

    Let me know, thanks!

Hi HAnn.... I'm from Tennessee... near the Alabama line ..... I had surgery in Oct. '05 in Nashville at Centennial Hospital with Dr. David McCord as surgeon. He is a very good surgeon, but as far as i know, there is no support group in this area. I did get encouraging messages from some of his other scoliosis patients thru the nurses. They were all great!

Huntsville, Alabama has some great spinal specialists too, i hear. Maybe they will have some support group or someone to answer your questions.

Good luck, and if i can be of any help, feel free to send me a PM.... I check this board daily

      thanks

      JoAnn,
Thank you for your reply. I saw a specialist at Vanderbilt when I was younger and in a brace. Recently, since moving to South Alabama, I saw a well-known specialist in Atlanta, Ga. at Emory.

Just to let you know, I am in the process of working with The Scoliosis Association to establish a support group chapter in Alabama where I live and possibly also work some in Tennessee near my hometown, which is also very close the Alabama state line.

I will post more info at a later date. Thank you again!
