  • adolescent scoliosis - growth hormone therapy

    Hi,

I'm new to this list. My 14 y/o son, Micah, was recently diagnosed.

Micah is receiving growth hormone therapy (injections) which promotes rapid growth. Our doctor told us the growth hormone therapy contributed to his scoliosis coming to light but wasn't a contributing factor in developing it. Which leads me to my question to all of you. Does anyone have any info/knowledge/experience about a realtionship between scoliosis and growth hormone treatment ?

    Thanks in advance.

    growth hormone

Hi Cindy. I have a 12 year old girl who has been on Growth Hormone therapy for four years and she is having surgery September 1. I am very scared! We chose to stay on the Growth Hormone because the bennefits were large with my childs "different" ~ability. She would have had the surgery in the long run. My childs Endocrine and Orthopedic Dr. both agreed with the decision. What degree is your childs curve?
