I went to give my final blood donation yesterday, what an ordeal. No problems the other 2 times so I went by myself using public transportation no less, it is easier than driving and parking. Well once I was stuck the blood was only trickling out. He kept trying to roll the vein. Painful and stressful. After quite awhile someone else came over and determined the needle was clotted. I already gave too much to start over. I lost it. Nurse didn't help by telling me what a big surgery this was etc..
I called the pa to tell her and she subsided my worries.
Today she called me to tell me that there was a scheduling problem and my surgeon wouldn't be able to do the first part of my surgery, but they found someone to do it. Well need less to say my heart sank. Then she told me it would be Dr Albert who is a specialist in scoliosis and trained my surgeon. I feel okay abvout that now. What an emotional couple days this has been. I can't wait to go down the shore on Sunday.
As always thanks for listening.

What a crazy day! My aunt had a fusion done by Dr. Albert. She loved him and is in no pain now. He's very good. Don't worry!

dawn----I have been following your posts all along. Hang in there! When I had my blood taken(3 weeks ina row in July), the nurses were asking me many questions about this long surgery.....I tried to stay very positive but was scared to death as it approached. By the last blood donation, you know it's almost "your turn"! Please e-mail me if you need too. Do deep breathing in the morning & night and put on some music you like whenever you need too. It helped me. You will be a changed woman after this surgery(besides being straighter) I was so relieved to get it over with! I had waited for 7 mths and that was the hardest part! I was under for about 8 hrs on Aug 1st & only remember the following Sunday(operation was a Tues that week) when my sisters/mom came to see me at the hospital...I don't remember my husband's visits on wed, thurs or friday nights. The morphine kept me out of it & I am very thkful it did!
Most importantly: take any help that is offered to you for your child. My main worries post-op were the well being of my boys(7&10) & their emotions. I cannot tell you the great support I have gotten from friends, family & neighbors! I'm sure you will too! Love, Lynne...enjoy your vacation & don't worry about the 3rd blood donation. They gave me 2 pints back just to help me recover faster by the end of surgery week...... :) :)

Thamks for all the support that all of you have given me over the past few months. I will be gone for a week and I will have just a few days before the surgery. I will check in before I go for surgery. Everyone have a great week.

Dawney, I have only been a member for a short time but I just want you to know that I will be thinking and praying for you.
Hope you had a wonderful holiday and just think you may have been meant to have this different doctor all along in the whole scheme of things.
Bless you
