  • Waiting for dr appointment 2months

    Hello:

My 14 year old daughter was just diagnosed. She has a 25 degree thorasic and 35 degree lumbar with a twist. Since we have to wait almost 3 months for an appointment with the specialist. I was wondering if anyone has any experience. I am worried and can't get any info. I realize that any info is just that, information. BUT does this sound serious? May surgery be an option? Or any opinons. Please remember, I am not asking for diagnosis or treatment advice. I just am wondering what MAY happen.

Thank you for all the help!

    Hi...

You can read some good overviews on scoliosis treatment here:

    http://www.scoliosis-australia.org/s...scoliosis.html
    http://www.medicineau.net.au/clinica...oskel2997.html

Your daughter may eventually need surgery, but not at this point. If she started menstruating a year or more ago, there's a good likelihood that she'll be able to avoid surgery altogether.

    Linda

        Hi,

Isn't it just totally frustrating to have to wait almost 3 months to see a specialist? We had to wait about 2 months after my daughter was diagnosed.

My best advice for now is to start making a list of questions for the doctor, with the most important ones listed first as you might not have time to ask all of your questions. If possible, take your husband, mother or a friend with you to the first appointment. At the first appointment, the doctor will probably be throwing a lot of information at you and it helps to write it all down or at least have another person with you to help remember everything that is said.

Hang in there and know that you are not alone in this.
