  • Hello there.

This is my first time posting. I am a 26 yr. old female with a 28 degree curve (thoracic) and a 20 degree curve (lumbar). I'm not sure if this is considered bad. Noone has been too clear on any information they have given me. I'm getting pretty desparate for answers. It seems as though my pain is getting worse all the time. The pain is only, and has been only, on the left side. I started going to a chiropractor one week ago but it seems to have caused more pain. I wanted to know if anyone out there has been let down by doctors like me. I keep getting told that there is nothing that can be done to help me. I don't want to take pain meds for the rest of my life. Do I keep going to differrent doctors until someone will help me? Can anything be done to help?

    Hi....

First, you may want to post in the adult area:

(You posted in the <18 forum.)

A 20 degree curve is pretty mild, at least compared to most here. If you have pain, there is probably a specific reason for it. If you have insurance, I'd recommend that you be evaluated by a scoliosis specialist. You can find a list of them here:

If your pain is recent, you may want to give yourself 4-6 weeks to see if it gets better, since most back pain resolves by itself in that amount of time.

    Linda
