    Hi everyone

I haven't been on here in so long, because my computer wasn't working for a month. The last time I was on I talked about the pain I've been having, which is definitely increasing as time goes by as I'm now waking up every morning with pain and I barely had any pain before. I also mentioned that my family doctor said that he was told that it could take 6 months to a year to get a specialist appointment - but less if it was necessary. Luckily I've gotten an appointment for August 17th ! which is good... but at the same time a little scary because I don't know what to expect. I was just wondering if you guys could mayb tell me about what happened the 1st time you saw a specialist so that I can "mentally prepare" myself... I know I probably have nothing to worry about, but I'm a worrier by nature and I think maybe if I know more of what to expect I can be a little more relaxed.

    Thanks alot !!

Try not to worry, the specialist is there to help you. Here's my story: I found out I had scoliosis when I was 9, and a while later I saw a specialist. Until I was about 12, we just had check-ups with him every 6 months or so to see how much my curves were progressing and to determine the best treatment. I eventually went through a kind of nighttime bending brace and later a Milwaukee brace. Now I've had surgery and am one month post-op. The specialist you see will suggest that you do one of these things (waiting/bracing/surgery), but whatever he says, just remember he's there to help, and you don't have to take his advice if you don't want to! Hopefully a relief from pain is right around the corner. Best wishes!

The Speciallist will just examine you, ask you to have a Scolio Gram (that's what mine does anyway) and will let you know on what he is going to do. I am currently seeing a Speciallist and he is planning on discharging me. I also have alot of back pain and I have been refered to a Phsio by my doctor as my Speciallist didn't believe I had pain (stupid man!) but yours won't be like mine.

Seeing as it is 29th August you have already had your appointment, lol, woops.

Cecile: Badminton is fine, I love planning it and it helps my back. Just don't over do it and stretch your back before playing.
