    Hi,

Just wondering has anyone got scoliosis and haven't had it progressed before?

As im was diagnosed when i was 15 years old with congenital scoliosis which means i was born with it. I have a 50 degree curve upper spine and 40 -50 degree lower spine. As my specialist said 6 years ago he doesn't think it would move since he reckons my bones had stopped growing.

I am 21 years old now and im going to the specialist soon to get it checked.
As i don't really get back pain at all im just wondering do all scoliosis curves progress?

    Thanks in advance
    Had surgery May 28th 2007 Anterior/Posterior getting fused from T3 - L3

    Hi LeeLee,

I don't have an answer for you unfortunately, but I'm glad you asked as I'm wondering the same thing.

If anyone out there has experienced their curve stopping let us know! Give us hope!

Not all scoli progresses and many never need any treatment. It just depends on how old you were when they found it, the type of curve you have, your curves own history of progression, etc. Good luck with your upcoming appt with the surgeon.

Recently I wanted to see if my curve had progressed from the ages of 18(when I was supposed to have surgery but backed out) and 26(when I did have surgery b/c the pain was starting to affect my life), and to my surprise I had 4 different Xrays done between that time period in 3 different hospitals and the thoracic curve had not progressed at all(wich was 60ish), and the lumbar one decreased in degrees. I also didn't lose any height in that period, now that I had surgery I did gain an inch or so.
