im not sure when i have surgery but i was wondering if when you wake up in the recovery room, does your whole back feel numb?

My daughter Briann said that when she woke up in recovery that she was not in any pain. She just felt very dazed and out of it. She doesn't remember a whole lot. She was very thirsty and her doctor allowed her to have ice chips (one at a time) right away. Her voice was raspy and her dry throat was her biggest complaint. The "beeps" from the machines upset her. Her machines were not beeping but she could hear beeps from other patient's machines and I think she thought something was wrong and she got very upset for about 10 minutes. They were going to give her something to calm her but she calmed herself down after we all kept assuring her that she was fine.

            Hope this helps.

uh oh i have a problem

Hi im having surgery this wednesday and im worried about something...
ive had this really severe headache that hasnt gone away in three whole days!!! i havent taken any pain relievers because believe it or not im still new in swallowing pills so i just thought that i should let it run its course cause headaches usually go away by their own even if untreated thought taking a longer time...anyway its been three days and now i discovered that i have a slight fever too of 100 degrees and the onset of stiff neck, sensitivity to light, and painful eye movement. so i have to turn my body to look at something cause it hurts to turn my neck and it hurts to move my eyeballs, it even hurts to blink!! and i was wondering if i should take motrin to reduce my fever and help my headache but i dont know if im supposed to with my surgery so near....any ideas? and its weird cause yesterday i had a temp of 100.5. degrees and this morning at preop it was 98 and now it rose up to 100 so they didnt have a chance to catch my slight fever, so i dont know what to do, or if should just stay like that...i mean i dont wanna go into surgery with a headaches and im not even tensend im actually excited...help
wat can happen if im put under anesthesia and im sick?

Good luck ScoliGal. I know you are anxious about it all, but once you wake up from surgery, you will be on the "other side" and you can focus on recovery and healing. Please know you are in my prayers today for a successful and uncomplicated surgery.
