  • Does anyone live in the Las Vegas area?

I know there has to be someone with scoliosis that lives in Las Vegas. I just cannot seem to find anyone. How do I find that someone. This is a very big city and it seems that there are only two scoliosis specialists here. I am pretty scared here because I might be forced to have the surgery out of town. Dr. Broachie seems to have a great reputation with alot of you. How could I have the surgery there? Do they have places for patients to stay at following the surgery? How do people coming in from another country for the surgery do it? This is all overwhelming for me. I guess if I knew of a good Dr. here then it would be alot easier. My doctor is Dr. Mark Kabins and he seems to be a good doc, but how do I find out for sure. I have posted a thread asking if anyone knows of him and I have not had a reply for that thread. By the way...this is a great place (forum).

Can anybody help me here? Thanks

    Debbie

    Hi Debbie...

Here's a good place to start:

Of the three doctors listed in Nevada, I could only find a website for Dr. McNulty:

    http://www.nevadaorthopedic.com/dr_mcnulty.html

He seems to have good credentials.

As far as having surgery out-of-town, I believe that people either travel home immediately upon release from the hospital, or they stay in a local hotel. Dr. Boachie is a great surgeon, but you should be aware that he does not participate in any insurance plans. If you decide to travel outside of your area, I'd suggest SF. The surgeons at UCSF do a lot of scoliosis surgery, including many people who travel from outside the area. You can see their information here:
